Brama Telecom Review
Posted: January 14th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: VoIP Providers | Tags: Brama, Provider, Review, Service, Telecom, VoIP |Brama Telecom is a Canadian based Broadband telecommunications provider located in Ontario. They offer several plans for a very low price. $9.90 for unlimited calling in Canada, $15.95 for unlimited calling to Canada and United States, and finally a Students Plan for $7.90 where Students may sign up and get unlimited calls across Canada. The best thing about these plans is there are no hidden fees. All charges like 911 are included in the packages, and the plans come with features such as, voicemail, caller id, call waiting, in-network calls, call return, call transfer, distinctive ringing, intercom dialing, hunt group, message waiting, music on hold, speed dialing, 3-way calling, and toll restrictions. Now that a lot of features for $9.90(more info on Brama Telecom VoIP Plans ).
The service is as clear as any land line when making calls. So this is a big positive, but of course this also based on your internet connection if your internet is poor then it will directly affect your VoIP since it uses the internet to make your calls. If you’re new to VoIP you will have to purchase a modem from them for around $80. That goes for any VoIP company either you sign a contract get the equipment free or purchase it.
The company still has some issues that will raise concerns for the general public. The company has some mirror support issues some of the support team seems to lack experience. But then I haven’t really ran in to a company that doesn’t. There are still numerous people on their support team that know their stuff and are very helpful. I personally just ask to be transferred to another support representative if I run in to these types of situations with any company.
Overall this is an above average VoIP provider. If you have some experience with VoIP and don’t need the support this is a great provider and hard to beat with its’ relatively low price. If you’re new to VoIP I suggest giving them a try first with only minor support issues and the low monthly fees you can’t really go wrong . Honestly the first months free and if you can setup everything on your own (it’s really easy just plug the modem in) you can get some cheap unlimited long distance calls.

I’m using Bramatelecom for all my long distance calls, and I love it! Only problem is support as it mentioned here, but for it’s price it’s the best!
I am thinking of switiching from Vonage to Brama Telecom only for the reason the price factor. Vonage service and support all good but price and the 500 minutes they give is not enough for Canadian customers.
So my question is, you guys say support is not that great with Brama Telecom…so what kind of support are we looking for? What are some of the issues which will arise?
Please elaborate.
well they recently upgraded the support it seems its actually much better now. before it was hard to reach them. but if you are a season voip user there isn’t really a need to use support anyways. i haven’t actually ran in to issues with their service.
I have been using them for almost a year now… have no complaints… only issue was a hardware issue with my adapter which was resolved quickly. Can’t beat the price and features
